Busy
I am getting ready for small works shows for the holidays. And while I was working so hard, I received good news: My painting, Play at the Plate won first place in the IWBC’s Women on the Diamond art competition.

I couldn’t wait to paint the animals at the Kate De Lane Farm after I returned from purchasing eggs there. The animals came running toward me and it made my day. The other scene is of rowers on the Delaware inspired by older LOC photos and the works of Thomas Eakins. Both are for sale locally. Kate De Lane Farm can be purchased at Duck Soup in New Hope, PA, and The Rowers will be for sale either at the upcoming A&C small works show online and in Doylestown, PA or the AOY show in Yardley, PA

This is the Buckhorn Covered Bridge, also known as the Cogan House Covered Bridge in Lycoming County, PA
I went to Williamsport, PA recently and got some more inspiration for the Women Playing Baseball series of paintings, as Williamsport is the home of the Little League World Series. Ella Bruning was the most recent girl to play in the Little League World Series, but there have been 19 others. I have worked some more on the Alexander painting. The figure on the right is based on J.T. Realmuto, whose face I like. He will be really good next year, which makes me think about my picks for the two League MVPs. I also include a still life I made for Maryanne, who isn’t feeling well today.
I was able to get back to working on this

I wanted to experiment with using a white ground instead of a toned one. Wasn’t pleased at first, but warmed to it as I worked longer. However, I prefer a toned ground going forward because it allows for more depth of color.
